Questions painters ask

Which side should I use? The honeycomb side grabs more pastel and shows texture. The smoother side is better for detail and pastel pencil. Both work.

Is it sanded paper? No. Mi-Teintes holds fewer layers than sanded paper like Pastel Premier, but it's lighter, cheaper and great for sketches and studies.

Which color set should I pick? Grays are the easiest for value studies. Earth Tones suit landscapes. Assorted gives you a bit of everything.
