Questions painters ask
Do oil pastels need fixative? They never fully harden, so protect finished work with glassine or frame it behind glass. Some artists use an oil pastel fixative.
What paper works best? Heavy paper with some tooth. Stonehenge oil paper, gray toned sketchbooks and sanded Pastelbord all take oil pastel well.
How do I blend without using my fingers? A Colour Shaper rubber-tip tool pushes and blends oil pastel cleanly.
